Computer Technology Adventures for NZ Years 3–4 (US Grades 2-3)
Computer Technology Adventures for Years 3–4 is a hands-on, project-based introduction to technology learning for children aged 6–9, aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum (Levels 2–3).
Designed for homeschool families, enrichment learners, and educators, this book guides children from understanding what technology is to creating with it—through coding, robotics, engineering, and digital design—while placing strong emphasis on digital safety, responsibility, and care.
Children learn to:
think step-by-step and solve problems through coding
create interactive stories and games
explore robotics and automation
design and build with everyday materials
understand how devices work inside and out
use technology safely, ethically, and thoughtfully
Learning is practical, flexible, and developmentally appropriate. Activities are designed to be completed over short sessions and can be adapted to suit individual pace and interest. Optional Level 3 extensions are included for Year 4 learners who are ready for additional challenge.
This book does not require expensive equipment or constant screen use. Technology is treated as a tool for creativity, learning, and problem-solving, alongside discussion, drawing, building, and reflection.
Computer Technology Adventures for Years 3–4 supports children in becoming confident, capable, and responsible users and creators of technology—without pressure, overload, or unnecessary complexity.
