Epcot in your own Home!

Are you a Disney and travel junkie? Epcot at Walt Disney World in Florida is an inspiration for traveling the world, and is the perfect theme for your next staycation! Of course if you’re an Orlando-native, you could plan a Walt Disney World Resort staycation and visit the park in person.

But if a trip to Disney is not possible in your near future, you can always plan a Disney Staycation or specifically an Epcot Staycation to enjoy at home instead!

The countries featured in the World Showcase are enough to get your wanderlust started, but we’ll add in some ideas to add a bit of Disney magic to your Epcot staycation.

How do you like to plan out your Epcot day? Breakfast with characters at Garden Grill? Entering at rope-drop to get in line for Frozen Ever After? Have a relaxing morning before heading out to enjoy one of the festivals at the World Showcase?

With your Epcot staycation you can pick and choose the ideas to design your perfect day from home. You can also use the list to host an Epcot-themed party.

Ultimate Epcot Staycation ideas

Dress the part

Even if you can’t make your way to Epcot, you can still wear your best Disneybounding outfit. An upside of staycationing Epcot instead of visiting in person is that you don’t have to worry about getting blisters or thigh-chafing from walking around the park all day!

We love this reflective bag since it looks great in photos and reminds us of Spaceship Earth. It’s the perfect accessory to your Epcot outfit.

Ride the attractions

Find your favorite Epcot attractions to ride virtually on Youtube. Do a search for “[ride name] POV” (point-of-view) to find them. Here are some of our favorites:

Eat the food

Use the recipes from D23 – Disney’s official Fan Club – to make food found at the World Showcase countries and the various festivals held throughout the year. The Epcot Food & Wine festival isn’t the only festival with food! All of the festivals held at Epcot now have special booths for the festival food offered throughout the year.

Food & Wine Festival is a popular time to “drink around the world” at Epcot. But how can you do that during your Epcot staycation? You may not be able to try all the different drinks from the countries, but you can learn a few international drinking games with this kit.

Make flavored popcorn. Did you know Epcot has cheddar cheese, buffalo bleu cheese, and sour cream and chive flavored popcorn?

Explore the World Showcase

You can use this passport to learn a little about each country and some of the Disney details that are part of each pavilion in the World Showcase.

Learn about each country pavilion’s real-life inspirations and visit each place virtually with Google Earth.

The shops in the World Showcase at Epcot are filled with authentic items created or found in each respective country. Thankfully technology – internet shopping – can bring many of those same items to your home with just a few clicks.

Here are some ideas on how to bring each pavilion into your home:

Mexico Pavilion

The ride in Epcot Mexico – Gran Fiesta Tour stars the Three Caballeros – is a fun ride and a great way to get out of the Florida sun when visiting Epcot in summer. Even if you can’t get to Epcot, you can watch The Three Caballeros from your own home.

Norway Pavilion

You’ve probably seen Frozen and Frozen II multiple times already. Did you know you can also learn about Norse mythology in the Stave Church gallery in the Epcot Norway pavilion? If you’re not familiar with Asgard and the gods from there, check out this informative book.

China Pavilion

The real-life temple in China is actually a series of buildings. The replica in Epcot China is of the Hall of prayer for good harvests. The three-tiered building is shaped in a way that if you stand in the center, it will sound as if your voice is floating up to heaven. How cool is that?

While you may not be able to re-create the acoustics at home, you can do a puzzle and enter a meditative/prayer-like state of being.

If you’re feeling more active, try your hand at a Chinese yoyo like the acrobats in the Epcot China pavilion – seen here. You may want to practice outside as the yoyo needs to be flung pretty high up for some of the tricks!

Germany Pavilion

The smell of Werther’s caramel fills the air the front of the Germany pavilion at Karamell-Kuche. You can get a few bags of Werther’s caramel popcorn here.

Italy Pavilion

We love getting a scoop of gelato at the Italy pavilion when we visit Epcot in person. You can make your own gelato at home, or maybe even have some delivered if you live in an area with that service!

American Adventure

Apparently you don’t need to visit Epcot to have a giant smoked turkey leg. You can have it delivered to your house! You can also make your own funnel cakes at home too.

Japan Pavilion

It’s popular during the International Food and Wine Festival at Epcot to wear a Japanese headband sporting “Victory” or “Number 1!” while making your way around the world.

You’ll also want to try the cute and interesting snacks and candies that can be found in the massive store on the first floor of the pavilion.

Morocco Pavilion

If you don’t have the skill to apply henna like the artists in Epcot Morocco, you can try these henna-inspired flash tattoos instead. The designs are already drawn and you just need to apply them.

Have some Moroccan Mint tea in the afternoon to relax and enjoy your day. Add in some fresh mint leaves and some sugar for a more authentic taste!

France Pavilion

French macarons are the best. They are not to be confused with the shredded coconut dipped in chocolate cookies known as macaroOns. You can try your hand at making your own and even try to make your own macaron ice cream sandwiches like they sell in Epcot France. But if you’re not into baking, you can order some gourmet flavors to try at home.

If cheese and wine are more your speed, check out the Remy cheese board and tools below!

The UK Pavilion

The tea shop in the Epcot UK pavilion sells Twinings tea. Sometimes Stephen Twining will visit the shop to do meet & greets.

Our recommendation for your Epcot staycation is to try the buttermint tea (also known as peppermint cheer during the holidays). It has a soothing taste and gives you a relaxed feel.

We actually couldn’t find it anywhere during our travels of the UK, so it’s definitely an Epcot UK pavilion treat!

Canada Pavilion

The cheddar cheese soup from Le Cellier is a popular dish in the restaurant, and during the International Food and Wine Festival at the Canada kiosk. Luckily we found a fairly easy recipe to try at home for your Epcot staycation here!

Another treat to try are the maple-flavored leaf cookies. Made with real maple syrup and a popular souvenir from Epcot Canada or the real-thing!

Watch the Fireworks Shows

Finish off your Epcot staycation days by watching “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” from the comfort of your own sofa.

You can also watch “Epcot Forever” – the fireworks show being shown until “Harmonious” opens.
