The Best Sentosa Hotels, Attractions and Beach - Singapore

Destinations > Asia > Singapore > The Best Sentosa Hotels, Attractions and Beach

Sentosa Island is south of the main island of Singapore. Nicknamed the “State of Fun” – It has attractions like Universal Studios Singapore, Trick Eye Museum, Fort Siloso, S.E.A. Aquarium, and Madame Tussauds Singapore. However, Sentosa actually translates to “peace and tranquility” and the lagoon-style beaches reflect that calm feeling.

The whole front of the island is considered “Resort World Sentosa” and has enough to keep you occupied for a few days.

However, the whole island is compact enough to be able to walk around and explore in a day if you weren’t attending any of the attractions. Sentosa Island is a 5-10 minute walk from VivoCity mall, and not far from Gardens by the Bay & Marina Bay Sands. So, if you’re not planning on staying at Marina Bay Sands, we’ve listed all of the Sentosa Hotels for you below!

You can also learn a lot about Singaporean culture and customs from this book.

How to Get to Sentosa Island

Take the MRT to Harbourfront Station.

From Harbourfront Station, we recommend either taking the cable car over the water, or walking across the Boardwalk. Prices vary for the cable car depending on what specials they have, but it runs around $30-45 SGD for an “Unlimited Rides” day pass. Children (4-12 years old) are about $20-35 SGD.

For the budget-minded traveler, or those with a fear of heights, the Boardwalk is free and still offers great views of Sentosa Island as you approach it. The walkway isn’t air conditioned, but it is covered, and has travelators to assist you. Walking end-to-end without stopping takes about 5 minutes. Plan to add some extra time if you want to stop to take photos – the view can be especially magical during sunset. From Harbourfront Station, walk through VivoCity to get to the entrance of the Boardwalk.

Another option would be to take the Sentosa Express Monorail. It is $4 SGD from VivoCity’s 3rd floor to Sentosa Island. Subsequent rides are complimentary once you’re on the island. If you purchase a combo attraction ticket, it may already be included as well.

Sentosa Beach

There are three beaches located on Sentosa Island: Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong. All of the beaches are located on the southern side of Sentosa Island.

SILOSO BEACH

When we first arrived at this beach it was a bit underwhelming. This beach is designed mostly for nightlife rather than for daytime fun. During the day you can see the huge number of shipping vessels from the shoreline - which may not be the most pleasing or relaxing of sights on a beach. However, at night, the lights from the ships make it a little more beautiful.
